Baseball Recap: Carroll Comes Up Short

The matchup between Carroll and Homestead on Monday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Chargers lost 16-8 to the Spartans. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Rhett Swoverland made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Nichols, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Homestead, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carroll will take on Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Homestead, they will square off against Fort Wayne Snider at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
