Softball Recap: Meigs Gets the Win

Meigs proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wellston Golden Rockets, sneaking past 2-1. For the Marauders, this counts as revenge for the 10-5 victory the Golden Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Natalie Goode spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Meigs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Yost, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meigs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Wellston fell to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meigs will face off against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wellston, they will take on Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
