Baseball Recap: Sacred Heart Prep Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Sacred Heart Prep's offense. They came up short against the Menlo-Atherton Bears on Friday, falling 9-0. The Gators have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Sacred Heart Prep got a good showing from Kyle Sweeney, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sweeney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Sacred Heart Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Menlo-Atherton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Prep will square off against Menlo School at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will face off against Carlmont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
