Basketball Recap: South Bend Adams Takes a Loss

South Bend Adams lost against South Bend St. Joseph back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The South Bend Adams Eagles were beaten by the South Bend St. Joseph Huskies 87-58. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Huskies are ranked 15th).

Jarvis Tolbert and Kalen Allen certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Tolbert went 11 of 22 on his way to 23 points, while Allen went 5 for 12 to rack up 11 points and five rebounds. Tolbert's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Samuel Pryor also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

South Bend St. Joseph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Konieczny, who went 10 of 17 en route to 24 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Konieczny a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Ethan Roseman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.

South Bend Adams has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for South Bend St. Joseph, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

South Bend Adams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-46 loss against Portage on the 8th. As for South Bend St. Joseph, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-64 defeat against Chicago Mt. Carmel on the 8th.
