A decisive and payback 78-62 win Saturday over previous No. 3 Rancho Christian in the Elite Invitational at Pasadena City College has put Sierra Canyon firmly in the top spot of the MaxPreps California boys basketball rankings.

The Trailblazers were in the top spot already, despite an earlier defeat to the Eagles, but behind 30 points from Brandon Boston, Jr. and 20 from Ziaire Williams, Sierra Canyon has 37.0 computer rankings points to just 34.3 for No. 2 Centennial (Corona).

Rancho Christian, which led 5-0 but never led again after Sierra Canyon went on an 8-0 run, dropped four spots to No. 7 in the latest rankings, which were released Tuesday.

Shelton (Sacramento), after a 74-58 win over Franklin, moved up three spots to No. 3, as did No. 4 Harvard-Westlake (Studio City) after wins over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 90-65 and Alemany (Mission Hills), 65-47.

One of the biggest leapers in the rankings this week was Mater Dei (Santa Ana), which jumped from No. 10 to No. 5 following wins over Orange Lutheran (Orange), 68-37, and Servite (Anaheim), 83-68. The Monarchs play dangerous Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) on Wednesday.
