Smithfield and North Kingstown are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Sentinels will square off against the Skippers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Smithfield has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Smithfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked first at the time (Smithfield was ranked sixth). The Sentinels fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The shutout was out of character for the Sentinels seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between North Kingstown and La Salle Academy, and La Salle Academy kept the tradition alive. The Skippers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

North Kingstown has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Smithfield, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Smithfield beat North Kingstown 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Sentinels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
