Baseball Recap: West Shamokin Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

West Shamokin extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-3 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Marion Center Stingers a 7-0 shutout. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Luke McCullough, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Marion Center off the board. McCullough has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben McConnell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Scrips, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

As for Marion Center, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10. The game marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Marion Center's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Slovinsky, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

West Shamokin will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Stingers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
