Recap: Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens vs. Weaver Beavers

The Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Weaver with a sharp 81-55 victory. Academy of Science and Innovation has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Academy of Science and Innovation's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ibrahim Sidik led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sidik has scored all season. Jamal Kulaib was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Several Beavers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fazal Khan, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Khan hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahari Taylor, who scored 11 points.

The win (which was Academy of Science and Innovation's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Weaver, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Academy of Science and Innovation won't have much time to rest: their next game is against University at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. University is on a three-game streak of home wins, Academy of Science and Innovation a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Weaver will take on Parish Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
