Basketball Game Preview: Desert View Jaguars vs. Desert Edge Scorpions

The Desert View Jaguars will face off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 2:40 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Desert View unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 73-46 loss at the hands of Sabino. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Edgar Holguin, who posted 14 points and five boards. Xaime Reyes was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Desert Edge and Estrella Foothills, and Estrella Foothills kept the tradition alive. The Scorpions were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 77-76 to the Wolves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (69), the Scorpions still had to take the loss.
