Recap: Robert Lee Steers vs. Jonesboro Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Robert Lee Steers can now relate to. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of Jonesboro on Thursday. The low total for Robert Lee limited their streak of high-flying scores to ten in a row.
DeMarcus Acoff went supernova for Jonesboro, rushing for 126 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries. Acoff was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Layden Nichols was another key contributor, rushing for 26 yards and two touchdowns.
Robert Lee's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Jonesboro, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Robert Lee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jonesboro is on the road again on Thursday and play against Chester at 5:00 p.m. on November 16th. Chester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Jonesboro likes a good challenge.
