Baseball Recap: Weston Extends Winning Streak to Four

Weston lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Abington, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Green Wave on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won three games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aidan Murphy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Murphy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Jorajuria, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryuji Nawa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory keeps Weston at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average this season. As for Abington, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Weston will square off against Waltham at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Abington, they will head out on the road to challenge Cohasset at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Wave 3.2, the Skippers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
