Softball Recap: Nipomo Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Nipomo's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Santa Ynez Pirates a 17-0 shutout. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Alyssa Van Muysen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Mariah Valdivia was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Allison Robles, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Nipomo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Nipomo's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Santa Ynez, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
