Basketball Recap: Sacopee Valley Comes Up Short

Sacopee Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a hard 36-22 fall against the Dirigo Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-17 back in December of 2024.

Dirigo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Ni?o, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds. Ni?o is becoming a predictor of Dirigo's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 8-2 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Abigail Luczynski, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Sacopee Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Dirigo, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacopee Valley will welcome Waynflete at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Dirigo, they will be playing at home against Monmouth Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monmouth Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Dirigo surely won't give up without a fight.
