Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Purdue Polytechnic Techies

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will challenge the Purdue Polytechnic Techies at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cathedral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Cathedral is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Harrison, who was ranked 16th at the time (Cathedral was ranked 20th). The Fighting Irish fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Fighting Irish's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cathedral got a good showing from Ethan Dorsey, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dorsey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Cameron Koers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Michael Gallagher, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Purdue Polytechnic played against Christel House on Saturday and won via forfeit.

Purdue Polytechnic pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
