Soccer Game Preview: Alcoa vs. South-Doyle

The Alcoa Tornadoes will square off against the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alcoa's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Alcoa fell victim to Maryville and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Rebels. While losing is never fun, Alcoa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Maryville are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, South-Doyle hasn't lost a match since March 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They never let Loudon get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. South-Doyle haven't had any issues with Loudon recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Roger Oseguera Cruz and Jude Straussfogel scored both of South-Doyle's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Alcoa's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for South-Doyle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1-1.
