Baseball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Loss

Chesapeake lost to Portsmouth back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers came up short against the Trojans, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Dylan White made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Zach Burdine also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Chesapeake has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Portsmouth, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Chesapeake will host South Point at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pointers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Portsmouth, they will face off against West Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
