Basketball Recap: Fernandina Beach's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Fernandina Beach's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-47 victory over the Sandalwood Saints. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Saints are ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fernandina Beach had a senior duo take command as Jake Aronowitz posted 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals and Miles Townsend went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five assists. Aronowitz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominik Dunlap, who earned six points and five steals.

Logan Wilkinson and Anthony Evans certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Wilkinson had 15 points, while Evans scored 13 points. Wilkinson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Fernandina Beach's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Sandalwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Fernandina Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-38 victory against Yulee on the 10th. Sandalwood has also already played their next match, a 52-36 defeat against Bishop Kenny on the 9th.
