Basketball Recap: Brookhaven Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Brookhaven took on Lawrence County on Friday. The Panthers took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 75-37.

Despite the loss, Brookhaven still got an impressive performance from TRISTION THOMAS, who went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points and six steals. THOMAS is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). JAMARION COOPER was another key player, putting up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Brookhaven and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Lawrence County, their record now sits at 7-3.

Looking ahead, Brookhaven will square off against Crystal Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lawrence County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-41 loss against North Pike on the 6th.
