Softball Game Preview: Normal University Pioneers vs. Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs

The Normal University Pioneers will take on the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Normal University didn't have quite enough to beat Normal West and fell 3-2.

Normal University saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Meera Sundaram, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Mahomet-Seymour was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Centennial. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly two runs.

Madi White was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Normal University has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Mahomet-Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Normal University skirted past Mahomet-Seymour 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
