Preview: Sale Creek Panthers vs. Rockwood Tigers
Sale Creek has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Rockwood Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sale Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Sale Creek had to settle for a 42-40 defeat against Scott.
Despite the loss, Sale Creek saw an underclassman step up: Madilynn Ellis scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. Ellis scored a full 52.5% of Sale Creek's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emma Gammon was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Meanwhile, Rockwood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Jellico by a score of 47-37.
Sale Creek now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Rockwood, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Sale Creek took their victory against Rockwood when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 44-18. Will Sale Creek repeat their success, or does Rockwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
