Baseball Recap: Del Norte Beats Fortuna for Their Fourth Straight Win

Del Norte hadn't done well against Fortuna recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskies a 4-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on four straight.

Del Norte got a big performance out of Anthony Cardenas, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Cardenas has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Greyson Franklin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Del Norte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fortuna only posted a batting average of .087.

Del Norte's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fortuna, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Del Norte beat the Huskies by a score of 11-1 later that day.
