Football Game Preview: Moorpark Musketeers vs. Royal Highlanders + Official Tickets

Moorpark is 6-1 against Royal since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Musketeers will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Moorpark is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.8 points per game this season.

On Friday, Moorpark was fully in charge, breezing past Oxnard 44-10. With the Musketeers ahead 37-3 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Logan Moon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 84 yards and two TDs on only six carries, while also throwing for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (138.6).

Moorpark's run defense was locked in: Oxnard could only muster zero yards per carry. While four picked up at least four total tackles, David Dias stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made four total tackles. Moorpark didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.1.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 44-9, which was the final score in Royal's tilt against Ventura on Friday. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Moorpark pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points over those games. As for Royal, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Moorpark against Royal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Musketeers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
