Volleyball Game Preview: Elba Bluejays vs. Burwell Longhorns

The Elba Bluejays will venture away from home to take on the Burwell Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Elba is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since October 28, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against Riverside, falling 3-0. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Meanwhile, Burwell didn't have quite enough to beat Nebraska Christian on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Longhorns have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Burwell wouldn't go down easily and took Nebraska Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-13, 15-10.

Elba's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Burwell, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Elba might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Burwell in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. Can the Bluejays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
