Volleyball Recap: St. John's Cadets vs. Bishop O'Connell Knights
St. John is ranked highly in their home state and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Bishop O'Connell. The Cadets fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2. The Cadets haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
St. John's actually scored more points across those five sets (99-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 11-25, 15-8.
Several Cadets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shea Willson, who had 11 digs and two aces. Alexandra Potter also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Bishop O'Connell can attribute much of their success to Caroline Semko, who had ten digs and five kills.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bishop O'Connell, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. John's will face off against rival Archbishop Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell is set to take on their familiar foe St. Mary's Ryken at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
