Basketball Preview: Adams Central Patriots vs. Minden Whippets
The Adams Central Patriots's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Minden Whippets on February 6th. Adams Central will be strutting in after a victory while the Whippets will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Adams Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Dusters, but they still walked away with a 49-43 victory. Given Adams Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Dusters are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Minden unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Gothenburg by a score of 45-43.
Despite the defeat, Minden had strong showings from Mattie Kamery, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Kinsie Land, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Kamery hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Rozie Nelson, who scored five points along with two steals.
Adams Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Minden, their loss dropped their record down to 15-3.
Adams Central was able to grind out a solid victory over the Whippets when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 45-36. Does Adams Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Whippets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
