Softball Recap: New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Sets Scoring Season-High Against Routt Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly). They blew past the Routt Catholic Rockets 20-1 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vipers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Addison Hopkins made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Hopkins was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly got a massive performance out of Avery Blackorby, who went 2-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Blackorby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Holloway, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's record is now 3-16. As for Routt Catholic, their loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.
