It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sale Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Whitwell Tigers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Tigers since May 1, 2015.

Dylan Cunningham spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Sale Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maverick McCary, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Sale Creek's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Whitwell, they dropped their record down to 3-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sale Creek will face off against Grundy County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitwell, they will take on Sequatchie County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Whitwell has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
