Softball Recap: Aldine Has No Trouble Against Dekaney

Aldine hadn't done well against Dekaney recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mustangs blew past the Wildcats 20-5. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in February, they had to take a 19-18 defeat.

Jasmine Guerrero was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Guerrero was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Juliana Moctezuma was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Estrella Luis, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Aldine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Aldine's record now sits at 6-14. As for Dekaney, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Aldine didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-7 loss against Nimitz on the 1st. As for Dekaney, they have also already played their next contest, a 24-8 victory against Westfield on the 1st.
