Softball Recap: Riverside Prep Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

While Riverside Prep put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Big Bear. The Silver Knights blew past the Bears 17-0. Considering the Silver Knights have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bree Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other pitching news, Sadie Martinez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Denise Hernandez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Isabelle Obregon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive matches.

Riverside Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Big Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Riverside Prep beat the Bears by a score of 17-2 on Thursday.
