League recap: Canyon del Oro extends winning streak with victory over Casa Grande

Adding to the longest winning streak in III Section V this week, Canyon del Oro beat Casa Grande 56-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Dorados.

The Cougars fell to Canyon del Oro 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brock Hall threw for 128 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss.

Marana's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ben Honea threw for 122 and 1 touchdown and Ross Jonathon had 56 yards receiving. On the ground Honea contributed 188 yards. Travis Howard helped Marana's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 40 yards.

The Tigers' dynamic duo of Honea and Jonathon proved tough for Flowing Wells to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Howard helped Marana's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 40 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Dustin Peace's team's Jordan Closs-Lopez and JJ Metz have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Closs-Lopez has thrown for 1,367 yards this season, while Metz has 23 catches for 722 yards. The Caballeros' Dionte Flores leads the league in rushing yards with 1,240.

Ty Cruz of the Catalina Foothills is only 11 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Cruz has rushed for 989 yards on 106 carries so far this year.
