Basketball Recap: Burke's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Burke blew Monument Mountain out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Monument Mountain got their revenge. The Burke Bulldogs fell just short of the Monument Mountain Spartans by a score of 68-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since January 11, 2024.

Burke's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.0 points over those games. As for Monument Mountain, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monument Mountain, they will challenge Georgetown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monument Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 matches -- so hopefully Georgetown likes a good challenge.
