Baseball Recap: Springfield Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Springfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Unionville Longhorns. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Longhorns walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Jack Rae looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Danny Meakim, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Lennon, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Springfield's record is now 13-7. As for Unionville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
