Berks Inter-County 2 recap October 22, 2013

Schuylkill Valley moved up to 288 from 344 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Berks Inter-County 2. The Panthers were able to move up by defeating Donegal 21-6.

Berks Catholic added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fleetwood, 38-17. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.

Matt Kase provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Berks Catholic beat the Tigers. He completed 7 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 11 yards. Kase's favorite target this week was Pop Lacey, who caught 5 passes for 97 yards.

Lacey was the best receiver in the league this week as the Saints bested Fleetwood. Lacey racked up 5 receptions for 97 yards. Cooper Kutz helped Berks Catholic's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 84 yards.

James Martinez's team's Zach Koenig and Michael Allen have formed a dream team this season, leading Berks Inter-County 2 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Koenig has thrown for 1,055 yards this season, while Allen has 30 catches for 479 yards. Blue Mountain's Will Bornstein leads the league in rushing yards with 1,008.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Tigers' Allen goes up against the Eagles' Mark Chelius.

Next week's game between Fleetwood and Blue Mountain will feature a good passing match up as Koenig will test his arm against Chelius' defensive ability.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Schuylkill Valley takes on Wyomissing. Jeff Chillot's team is in third place, while the Spartans are in second place.

The Panthers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,634 from 7,862. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 21-6 victory over the Indians last week.
