Mater Dei is a perfect 9-0 against JSerra Catholic since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Mater Dei will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Mater Dei proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Servite.

Mater Dei wouldn't go down easily and took Servite into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 15-9.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times JSerra Catholic and Orange Lutheran have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 3-0 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-19.

Mater Dei better keep an eye on Darren Chi. He was instrumental in JSerra Catholic's win, getting 16 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Chi has posted since back in February. Cameron Martin also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 21-10-2. As for JSerra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Mater Dei beat JSerra Catholic 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
