Basketball Preview: Indian Springs Thunderbirds vs. Pahranagat Valley Panthers
Indian Springs is 0-9 against the Panthers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indian Springs Thunderbirds will be staying on the road to face off against the Pahranagat Valley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Indian Springs is ranked 44th, while the Panthers are ranked 46th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Indian Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over Round Mountain.
Indian Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Oriyah Clay out in front who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Clay is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Celina Pena, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Pahranagat Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a serious blow against Virgin Valley, falling 58-28. Pahranagat Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.
Indian Springs' win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Pahranagat Valley, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
Indian Springs took a serious blow against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 44-8. Can Indian Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
