Basketball Recap: Anton Victorious

If Wellman-Union wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Anton, they should've done a better job of containing Shooter Campos. The Anton Bulldogs took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 87-37 victory over the Wellman-Union Wildcats thanks in part to Campos, who shot 8-for-10 from long range and dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. Those 34 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Gavin Martinez, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Anton's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Wellman-Union, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anton has already played their next contest (against Cotton Center), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wellman-Union will welcome Amherst at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wellman-Union is facing Amherst at the right time seeing as Amherst is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
