Baseball Game Preview: Country Christian Cougars vs. Salem Academy Crusaders

For the second straight game, Country Christian will face off against Salem Academy. The Cougars will host the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Country Christian will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Salem Academy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Country Christian hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Cougars never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Monday.

Country Christian's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Hiebenthal, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hiebenthal is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Country Christian pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Salem Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
