Baseball Recap: Tracy Victorious

Tracy took a 19-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lodi, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Flames 2-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Flames since April 28, 2023.

Jace Johnson tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Tracy's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Tracy's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Brown has posted since back in February.

Tracy's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. As for Lodi, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.

Coming up, Tracy will square off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Lodi, they will take on Inderkum in a tournament on Monday.
