Chesnee gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over the Pendleton Bulldogs. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 47-21 loss the last time these two teams met.

Evan-reece Lawter Gunner went supernova, rushing for 202 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chesnee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pendleton only rushed for 125 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why Pendleton lost, don't look at Jackson Allmon. Despite the final result, he threw for 78 yards and three touchdowns.

Coming up, Chesnee is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Broome at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pendleton, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Keenan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
