Baseball Game Preview: Powhatan Indians vs. Midlothian Trojans

The Powhatan Indians will square off against the Midlothian Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Powhatan's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Midlothian has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Powhatan had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Clover Hill put an end to it on Friday. The Indians fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Midlothian never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Richmond High School for the Arts 20-0. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Hank Carroll made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Carroll was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Archer Dean and Dawson Tatum did most of the damage at the plate: Dean got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Tatum went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hunter Layman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs.

Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Midlothian's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Powhatan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5-1.

Powhatan got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Midlothian by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
