Baseball Recap: Marcellus Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Marcellus waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Gobles Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Jakob Huber was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Abram Coffey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Cale Hackenberg was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Marcellus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive contests.

Marcellus pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gobles, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Marcellus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
