Basketball Recap: Ashville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cedar Bluff last Thursday, Ashville came back down to earth. The Ashville Bulldogs came up short against the Hokes Bluff Eagles on Monday, falling 73-52. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 94-73.

When it comes to explaining why Ashville lost, don't look at JB Potter. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Rice-Thompson, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Ashville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Ashville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season. As for Hokes Bluff, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-7.
