Basketball Recap: Myra Lentz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Great Plains Lutheran over Clark/Willow Lake

After flying high against Waubay/Summit last Thursday, Great Plains Lutheran came back down to earth. The Great Plains Lutheran Panthers took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones on Friday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Great Plains Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Myra Lentz, who posted 14 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games she's played. Madeline Prahl was another key player, going 6-for-11 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Great Plains Lutheran's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-5. As for Clark/Willow Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Great Plains Lutheran will square off against Elkton/Lake Benton on Tuesday. As for Clark/Willow Lake, they will challenge Florence/Henry on Tuesday. Clark/Willow Lake is facing Florence/Henry at the right time seeing as Florence/Henry is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
