Softball Recap: New Brunswick Starts Season with Win Against Plainfield

New Brunswick gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Plainfield Cardinals, sneaking past 13-12.

Libni Ester Gijon was a standout: she scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Diana Martinez, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Coming up, New Brunswick will host Somerville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Plainfield, they will head out to challenge J.P. Stevens at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
