Melbourne waltzed into their match on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They secured a 56-50 W over the Highland Rebels. Given the Bearkatz's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Rebels are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Melbourne pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Highland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Melbourne will venture away from home to face off against Yellville-Summit at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gosnell at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
