Soccer Game Preview: McMichael vs. West Stokes

The McMichael Phoenix are taking a road trip to challenge the West Stokes Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McMichael has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

McMichael fell victim to West Davidson and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Dragons. The shutout was out of character for McMichael seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Meanwhile, West Stokes came tearing into Monday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wolfpack get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. West Stokes' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

West Stokes pushed their record up to 12-3-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four games. As for McMichael, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-2.

McMichael might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from West Stokes when the teams last played back in March. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
