Softball Recap: Hubbard Continues Home Dominance on Monday

There's no place like home for Hubbard, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Ursuline Fighting Irish 13-12. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 7-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Layla Songer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Lauren Komorek was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Hubbard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Hubbard pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Ursuline, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Hubbard will square off against Lakeview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ursuline, they will take on Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
