Baseball Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Centerville Elks

The Springboro Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Centerville Elks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Springboro took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Fairmont with a sharp 8-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Adam Smith, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Micah Brandon, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Centerville came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Elks have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Centerville pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Springboro, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
