Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial lost against Independence last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars fell 7-2 to the Eagles. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Asher Moore was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Centennial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Corbett, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
