Basketball Recap: Argo Comes Up Short

Argo suffered their closest defeat since February 6th on Friday. They fell just short of the Westmont Sentinels by a score of 42-39. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Argonauts came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Sentinels are ranked 392nd).

Westmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danielle Hoover out in front who posted 14 points. Hoover is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Daskalov, who put up 13 points.

Argo is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3. As for Westmont, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Argo will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lisle at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Westmont, they will head out on the road to square off against Ridgewood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
